Harnessing a unique fermentation technique, PhytoCide Lichen is derived from Cladonia Rangiferina, a fruticose commonly known as “reindeer lichen” that naturally grows in boreal forests. This unique active is rich in usnic acid, supplying broad-spectrum protection for cosmetic applications that are compatible with anionic systems.

Appearance: Light yellow to amber, clear to slightly hazy liquid

Suggested Use Levels: 1.0-2.0%
Formulation Notes: PhytoCide Lichen is non-ionic and water soluble and may therefore be added to aqueous systems, as well as the aqueous phase of emulsions. When using PhytoCide Lichen, it is recommended to maintain the formulation pH between 3 and 8. We also suggest incorporating the product at temperatures of 77°F (25°C) or below. When handling this product, please prevent exposure to temperatures above 77°F (25°C) and prolonged exposure to UV. Exposure to temperatures above 77°F (25°C) and direct UV may cause darkening.
We always recommend that every formula undergo stability and microbial testing to ensure adequate preservation.
Storage: Store in a dry place at temperatures not exceeding 89.6°F (32°C). Based on stability studies, the optimum storage temperature for maximization of shelf life is 73.4°-77°F (23 - 25°C). However, it may be stored at temperatures between 60.8°-89.6°F (16-32°C) if such specific temperature control is not available. Do not freeze.
Shelf life: 12 months, properly stored, in a sealed container.
