Extraction Method:
Supercritical CO₂ extraction is only the initial crude extraction step in the process. It can purify bakuchiol to over 50% concentration. For the subsequent refined extraction, patented equipment and technology are used; high-speed counter-current chromatography (HSCCC), which operates on liquid-liquid partitioning principles and requires the use of natural solvents. Other manufacturers typically use column chromatography for this stage, which also necessitates solvents.
