RHASSOUL CLAY (MOROCCAN RED LAVA):
Red Rhassoul Clay has similar benefits as our more commonly found brown rhassoul clay, this clay is red from a higher iron content and can be used in situations where the color of the finished product is important like soap, DIY cosmetics, and products that the red color would be more appealing than the brown but wish to have the specific benefits of rhassoul clay. This clay comes from a select mine, which is why it's extremely hard to find in the United States. It is organically mined from ancient deposits deep within the Morocco Mountains and formed as a result of natural geothermal processes and volcanic activity. Touted as one of the most amazing products of the earth, it has an incredible amount of minerals (it contains the highest quantity of silica, magnesium, potassium, and calcium) and strong absorbing properties. It’s very negatively charged and most toxins in your skin are positively charged, so this clay is the perfect magnet for sopping up all those impurities—sebum plugs, blackheads, and oil around hair follicles.
Application: Moroccan Red Clay can be used in body wraps, soap making, face masks, mineral-based or cream-based cleansers, face or body scrubs, cosmetics, and facial powders.
Directions for Use: 5-100% in skin-care products, 1 T. / 15ml per lb. / 500g of soap.
Caution: Caution should be exercised as clays may stain fabric.
Deep Cleansing Face Mask Recipe:
Combine 1 oz of clay with 3 tbsp of water; add 1 tsp of vegetable glycerin and 2 drops each of geranium and grapefruit pink essential oils to form a paste. Apply to the skin and leave for about 10 minutes and wash off with warm water. Floral water or aloe vera gel juice can be substituted for water.
