Good hair growth

I’ve been using this throughout a couple of years of illnesses which caused much hair loss, which I feared to be a lost cause. (Hopefully no more!) Thanks - in part - to the product, I can say that my hair loss was stopped in its tracks and new growth is abundant. At these prices, daily treatment is definitely affordable, but it is somewhat tricky to figure out the proportions to use in a solution. Guesswork applies if, like me, you’re not a chemist. I did, however, find it soluble in vegetable glycerin rather than the suggested. Overall, though, it seems to do the job and I will continue to purchase and use routinely.

Dissolution Recipe

I had trouble getting this Minoxidil (and pure Minoxidil powder from other sources) into solution, so I am writing this "guide" in hopes it would help anyone attempting the same.

First, you need Polyethylene glycol (PEG) and minoxidil powder to make a super-saturated minoxidil solution. You need to heat the PEG to about 60 degrees centigrade, before slowly adding the minox powder to it (with constant stirring). This heating step is better carried out using a glass beaker with a magnetic stir-bar, placed on a temperature-controlled hotplate. (In case that's not available, a make-shift hot-water bath would be a viable option.)

Every time you add a little bit of minox powder, wait for it to dissolve completely before adding the next pinch. Finally, you obtain a highly concentrated minox solution in PEG. Please wait for it to cool down to about 40 degrees Centigrade before diluting further (do not chill this mixture, else the minox will fall out of solution). Once at about 40 degrees Centigrade, this solution can be diluted with absolute ethanol to achieve the desired final Minox concentration.

It works

I made a hair serum and it has worked wonders.

Doesn't dissolve

5% minoxidil added to 95% ethanol doesn't dissolve. Added 5% minoxidil to pure glycerin and it doesn't dissolve. Added 5% to Propanediol 1,3 (a propylene glycol substitute) doesn't dissolve. Added to water at the 2mg/ml recommendation on the product and it doesn't dissolve. Added to a solution of 80% (60% ethanol 40% water) and 20% propylene glycol, and it doesn't dissolve...
