Note: Natural butters and oils may melt during shipping or processing when exposed to high temperatures, and upon cooling they can sometimes re-solidify with a grainy texture or develop a thin white layer known as fat bloom (a harmless separation of fats such as stearic acid). This is a normal occurrence and does not affect the quality of your product. To restore a smooth consistency, simply warm the butter until fully liquefied, stir well, and then flash freeze in the original container or smaller jars. This process will return the butter to its creamy texture. Recommended Use Rates: Balms: 5 – 100%, Bar Soaps: 5 - 20%, Hair Conditioners: 1 – 5 %, Lotions & Creams: 5 - 20%.
Formulation Notes: When adding butter to creams and lotions, it might be necessary to gently warm them until the texture can be incorporated into the final product. Using a hand blender, create a vortex with your cream or lotion and drizzle your melted butter to fully incorporate. For addition in soaps, the general rule of thumb is 1 tablespoon per pound. Please melt at as low a heat as possible while stirring gently, and use as soon as it is melted.
Storage: Store in a cool place away from direct light and moisture in an air-tight container.
Shelf Life: 12 months, properly stored, in a sealed container.
Common Uses: Cocoa Butter generally has a soft, sweet cocoa aroma and it is one of the most stable fats known. It has been used to moisturize skin that has been exposed to the elements and to keep skin supple. It makes a wonderful ingredient in lotion bars, lip balms, body butter, and soaps. Cocoa Butter contains natural antioxidants that prevent rancidity. This butter is crude, so very hard in consistency, and its natural range may comprise a light to a darker color and a medium to stronger scent like a strong bitter chocolate.
