Castor Wax (Hydrogenated Castor Oil)
Castor Wax is a plant-derived hard wax created through the hydrogenation of castor oil, resulting in a stable, creamy white wax with excellent thickening and oil-binding properties. Valued in both skincare and cosmetic formulations, it helps create rich textures, improve product stability, and add structure to balms, sticks, salves, and anhydrous products.
Unlike traditional beeswax, Castor Wax offers a smoother glide and a more refined feel while still delivering impressive hardness and viscosity-building performance. It is commonly used in natural and vegan formulations where formulators want enhanced texture, suspension abilities, and improved payoff.
This versatile wax works beautifully in lip balms, body butters, salves, ointments, deodorants, cleansing balms, hair pomades, mascaras, and cosmetic sticks. It also helps suspend pigments and powders evenly throughout formulations.

Storage

Formulator Notes
Castor Wax is excellent for increasing viscosity in oil-based systems without creating excessive drag. It pairs especially well with beeswax, candelilla wax, carnauba wax, and botanical butters for creating stable, luxurious textures.
