Utilizing the molecular components of elemental sulfur (sulfide donors) extracted from Chlorobium tepidum, CytoSulf PF was created to provide a simple formulation process without the odor or cytotoxicity usually associated with sulfur-based cosmetics. The technology encourages cellular stasis, effectively combating the early signs of aging.

CytoSulf PF induced cytostasis of HaCaT keratinocytes, decreasing telomere shortening and preventing mutations to the cellular genome. Our studies indicate this was largely achieved by arresting cells in the G2/M phase (1315.5 MFU) and G1 phase (206 MFU), as seen by increased fluorescence from the transduced gene constructs (GFP and RFP). This effect was evident, unlike the untreated control which had little to no impact on cell cycle progression. These results suggest CytoSulf PF significantly modulates HaCaT keratinocyte cell cycle progression, primarily in the G2-M phase.
