Formononetin 98% (FORM) is an isoflavone from the group of phytoestrogens that exhibits a broad spectrum of physiological effects beneficial to health. Isoflavones are a group of phytoestrogens of relevant interest in nutrition, medicine, and cosmetics that promote potential health benefits. Formononetin is highly relevant due to its biological properties, such as antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory activities. Formononetin can be obtained from red clover, a plant from the “Fabaceae” family. The Fabaceae family exclusively produces it and is extracted from the roots of T. pratense. Another isoflavone present in red clover, biochanin A, has been demonstrated to reduce the production of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is a hormone associated with hair loss. Additionally, it has been shown to help modulate inflammation.

Antioxidant Effects
Formononetin has been shown to be a potent and effective natural antioxidant capable of protecting cells from most free radicals. Formononetin boasts the most potent antioxidant activity, demonstrated in its capacity to inhibit lipid peroxidation.

Anti-Inflammatory Effects
Studies have shown that Formononetin demonstrated an inhibitory effect on NF-kB activation which suggests the potential therapeutic effect that Formononetin may have in protecting against inflammation.
